Tickets for Rhod Gibert’s gig at the Machynlleth Comedy Festival sold out in under four minutes, a record for the event.
But fans who lost out on tickets will be delighted that they can still catch all the laughs from the BBC Radio Wales and Never Mind The Buzzcocks favourite on Radio Wales.
Gilbert is one of the UK’s greatest stand-up comedy talents known for his outstanding live performances and has hosted his own weekly Saturday morning show for Radio Wales since 2006.
Speaking about the event Rhod said: “Machynlleth is a unique experience and one of the best comedy festivals in the world.”
Now in its sixth year the Machynlleth Comedy Festival has gone from strength to strength growing in both size and reputation. Radio Wales has been involved from the inaugural festival and has supported the event ever since.
Paul Forde, Deputy Editor Radio Wales said: “Radio Wales takes its commitment to support Welsh Comedy very seriously and we’ve had a close relationship with this festival since it began. Rhod is the jewel in our comedy crown and it’s great that he’ll be broadcasting his radio show from there”
Rhod Gilbert performs on Saturday May 2 at 11am until midday at Machynlleth Bowling Club.
Although tickets are now sold out the gig will be broadcast live on Radio Wales and online at bbc.co.uk/radiowales.
In addition to the Rhod Gilbert session Radio Wales will have two other broadcasts from the Machynlleth Comedy Festival.
Elis James’ Guide to Machynlleth features the star of BBC Three comedy Crims, and he will take his new BBC Radio Wales series on the road around Wales.
In addition BBC Radio 4 Extra – Stand-up Showcase will also broadcast from the festival.
Now in its fourth year, this is a fantastic chance to see some of the brightest names from the festival performing live for the BBC. Welsh comedian Radio Wales regular Mike Bubbins oversees the proceedings in a show that will be broadcast on Radio 4 Extra and BBC Radio Wales.See also:
